Newbe help neded

I got a lot of questions.
1_ I have two fat32 partition ,I manage to mount them with fstab,I can acces them but what I want is to have posibility as a certain user(other then root) to add files into them ,not to erase...This is because I use a lot Windows at work but at home I'll like to learn linux,so when I check on the net for programs I would like to surf with Linux...but i wanna save the files in the fat partitions...So where should I modify and how??
2_ I brought from the internet mplayer so I can wach movies but is asking me to many dependencies...I came from Windows where every dependencies are included in the Kit pakage...so I am not so familiarized with that...How should i think and how should i search the dependencies??Maybe if i had started a long time ago i would knew already because everything is conectid but....Same problem with xine...Shouldn't the producer of the pakage put the dependencies on his page or links to download page???
3_ This refrash rate is killing me and I don't know exactly what refrash i use...I tried X configurator XConfigurator XF86Config nothing worked..How should i do it ???Manualy...How??

Any help wil be apreciated.(God will see)

Hi

1. You will need to edit the enties in /etc/fstab where it probably says "default" to say something along the lines of:
Code:
/dev/hdb6 /mnt/fat32 vfat umask=000,auto,users,rw 1 0
/dev/hdb6 and /mnt/fat32 are the partition and mount points, so those are up to you.

2. To download dependencies I tend to suggest www.rpmfind.net but you can usually find some of them on the install CD.

3. Not too sure on... Do you mean you want your screen demension bigger/smaller or what?

Cool

1. In your /etc/fstab file the entry for your win* partitions should contain among the options umask=000, like this
/dev/hdc1 vfat user,umask=000,other options 0 0
2. Dependencies is what you must deal with almost all the time when you install something on your system, the best place for you to hunt dependencies pacakges is http://www.rpmfind.net (make a bookmark by pressing Ctrl-D)
3. What is your video hardware? If you want to adjust it through XConfigurator I suggest lowering the color depth, lets say from 32 to 24 or from 24 to 16. In the earlier days of linux you had to calculate the values for your refresh rate according to the monitor specifications, now it is all done for you by the X-server, if you tell us what video card and monitor you have it will help us and you to get rid off the strobe light you have in front of you.

ok

I brought from the net the ati driver..I run sh Check.sh I see that i don't have instaled gcc...I start Kpakage and I try to instal the pakage...Here I find a stupid thing --that I cant instal the pacage that i see there(even there are coming in the instalation CD) cause i don't have kerberos ...and another dependencies...(could it be because i downloaded the latest kernel and instalit??(autoupdate)).So I boot from cd I and I install all the C pacage that çi see there so that it's install all the headers and sources it needs ....Ok when i restart in the latest kernel install I try to install my drivers and it tels me that I have to recompile my kernell...Bla bla ...I execute their script and it is telling me that instal.h is for kernel?? (older). So i restart and boot in the first kernel..ok it lets me install.I run the utility for configuring x ...it rewrite X86Config.I restart and it gives me text screen with strange caracters. I manage to escape and login as root..I recopy old X86Config -- startx --OK. But still is not ok because is same as before --refrash-- I mean.

++I can't install Xine to see movies cause it needs OpenGl as dependencies that I think that is coming with video drivers... I have one log XFree86.0.log with some errors mesage ...

So what and how should I do??
By the way i have values for my monitor from the Producer PDF

when i try to install ati driver it tels me

Tailored kernel module for fglr200 not present in your system.
You must go to /lib/modules/fglr200/build_mod subdir
and execute './make.sh' to build a fully customed kernel module.
Afterwards go to /lib/modules/fglr200 and run './make_symlink.sh'
in order to install the module into your kernel includes file.
(see readme.txt for more details.)

and when I try to run make.sh i got the folowing messege

[root@localhost build_mod]# ./make.sh
ATI module generator V 1.0
==========================
kernel includes at /usr/src/linux/include not found or incomplete
file: /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h

Do "lsmod" to see if the module is loaded.

Well, it's not in that list so that means the module is not loaded into the kernel, try loading it with the "modprobe" commmand.
