Need Help! Ximian install on Suse 9.0 boots to root only.

I installed Ximian Desktop 2. I am using Suse 9.0. I can only log in as root. I have tried deleting and creating users, downloading updates, nothing works. When I log in as a user, I get the message

"Failed to launch configuration server
Failed to execute child process */opt/gnome/libexec/gconfd-2
Permission Denied"

When you click "OK", two more boxes pop up, one saying basically the same thing and the other saying

"Error starting Gnome settings daemon"

All I get after that is a pointer and a blank blue screen. I have to hit the reset button to shut it off.

Has anyone ever seen this or know what to do? I have been searching the internet for the last two days and can not find an answer. I know just enough to get myself into trouble and not quite enough to get back out.

Thanks in advance,

Michael.

If it helps any, when I left it on for a while, it poped up another message,

"Nautilus cant be used now
due to an unexpected error from
Bonobo when attempting to register
the file manager view server"

As a side note, I am doing this install on two machines, one intel and one AMD. I installed Ximian logged in as root on one and thru a terminal in the other. They are both having the same problem.

No thanks to anyone here, I found the problem.

Just incase anyone runs across this problem, it falls to an incorrect permission for the libexec folder. I was trying to change permissions on the file gconfd-2 instead of the folder.

Log in as root and type

cd /opt/gnome
chmod a+rx libexec
exit

Done.

Michael.
