Hello,
I'm total newbie to Linux and I decided I might give it a try. Currebtly I'm running winxp pro and I'd like to install SUSE 9.1 on a separate drive (winxp is on c: and I'd like to install SUSE on e
.
I've downloaded the iso image, burned it, started the installation, so fas so good. I let the YAST partition automatically my drive on which I want to install the Linux and now I have:
/dev/hdb1 12.3MB (for /boot with ext2)
/dev/hdb3 8.5GB (for / with reiser)
/dev/hdb2 1.0GB (for swap)
Set mount point of /dev/hda1 to /windows/C
Under booting I have:
Boot loader type: GRUB
Location: 1, IDE 27.96 GB, /dev/hda, WDC-WD300BB-00AUA1 (MBR)
Sections: Linux (default), Floppy, Failsafe, Memory Test
Now, I pressed ok, went through installation and booted when prompted. Comp booted my winxp and that's it.
What should I do? Where do I put GRUB? How to proceed to have both winxp and SUSE bootable?
One thing I should point out is that 1, IDE 27.96 GB, /dev/hda, WDC-WD300BB-00AUA1 (MBR) is not my c: drive. My c: drive is SATA and I don't see it in installation screen. Do I need drivers for it? If yes how do I know which drivers?
I've searched the forum but couldn't find an answer. If this has already been answered please forgive me.
Thank you in advance
Goran
