need a cam software for linux

where can i get software so i can record my usb camera on linux
it has to run ether on Xorg/Xfree86/X or even better terminal mode (no KDE or GNOME)

Definitely the most flexible program with the most possibilities is VLC. Get the RPMFusion archive link and:

# yum install vlc

VLC doesnt record camera does it?
