Nautilus - slow refresh problem

GNOME 2.6.1, fam 2.7.0, portmap 5.0, vanilla kernel 2.6.7

Nautilus refreshes content of opened directory with big delays (4 seconds in average) and I have no clue why
I assume kernel need not to be patched with imon or dnotify to achieve expected behavior.

options in /etc/fam.conf
Code:
insecure_compatibility = false
untrusted_user = nobody
local_only = true
xtab_verification = false
idle_timeout = 0
Fam is started directly i.e. no by inetd.

Any idea what could be wrong ? (besides the thing between chair and keyboard )

I have to figure it out by myself ...

fam sources need to be patched with dnotify patch
