mplayer video output permissions in suse 9.3

_i compiled and installed mplayer 1 pre7 on suse 9.2 and the problem is that running "mplayer -vo help " as root gets list of video outputs and as normal user the list is much smaller withoyt x11 opengl ant others. as root i can play avi as normal user not because it can't use the proper vo. Does anybody know this case?
