mplayer video output

Whenever I watch a movie in mplayer and switch workspace, the last frame of the movie won't disappear and makes it pretty much impossible to use other workspaces. This happens under both blackbox and KDE, and with all video output drivers except x11 (-vo x11), but with x11 it's not possible to change the video output size.

Any suggestions?

(I'm using mplayer 0.90rc2 btw.)

you can easily change the video output with the -zoom option for example, read the manpage for more examples. have you tried sdl output as well? i don't know what's causing your problem, but i'd guess it's a bug in the driver for your video card.
