Mplayer install / other options

Hello Everyone,

I am using RH 9, and I need to install the mplayer to view videos. I downloaded both the GUI and the binary for the mplayer.

Also what is a good combo video player, that would play most common file types like MPEG, AVI (M$), WMA (M$).

I need something that is basically an all in one solution.

I need libraries to install this player and I try and try to get the libs installed as Root and it gives me dependency problems in most cases. I try using the force command to force the install even though the dependencies would kill it anyway, just rolling the dice like in Vegas.

I got my printer going, thanks to Linuxquestions.org members. All I had to do was give Mozilla and other programs the Printer name HP and it worked.

Can I print photos in Linux I tried but it didn't work. Any suggestions there as well.

Thanks for the help.

You should use apt-get for RH and it will download all the dependencies you need. Give also a try to synaptic (the GUI for apt-get). It's really usefull and friendly.
I only use mplayer for all video types. One advise is to download the codecs from homepage and install them in /usr/lib/win32, so you're sure you're not missing anything.

Mplayer is an all in one solution, definetely

Hope it helps

apt get

Isn't Apt get a client server app, I don't want to do that at this stage, and open my PC to the world accidentally. I would like to know more before I do that.

I need to know how to secure RH9, with apps besides the software firewall built in.
