I'm a little new at this (as some of you have realized).

I installed mplayer with no problems and I wasn't concerned about a gui. Well, I've found problems with that when using it for audio files. I went to the documentation on mplayer HQ but it's having problems, wouldn't open

I downloaded a skin (Abyss) but I'm not sure what to do with it. I would appreciate any help

what extension is it??

Two quick and simple questions

1.Which audio files ( also specify the error that you get )
and
2. why do you need gui to play audio files?

rpm.livna.org has the mplayer set of rpms for the gui fonts and skins. you might want to look into that. audio playing doesnt need a gui thou

Yeah, maybe I should specify the problem I'm having

I'm not actually having a problem playing the files. I'm playing WMA files with mplayer. They play fine, the problem is I have no interface of any kind like I do with video's, so I have to kill them through terminal.

Although I could do this, I can go through many songs quite quickly (I tend to not listen to a full song before changing it). Hence why I'm asking about the GUI, that will solve my problem. Unless you have to kill it as well, can't see why you would have to.

That's why I didn't specify which audio files or an error message

I usually find it is safer to go with the default gui on most apps - less buggy in the long run as it is usually tested more - however I have had some really great skins on various apps without any problem whatsoever - so - your choice.
