Hey I was wandering is there any kind of p2p application to get mp3 files from in linux? I need more music!!

There are a number of peer to peer (p2p) file sharing programs under Linux. However, with the sensitivity currently around regarding such things, I hipe you can understand that people are a little "antsy" about discussing them.

Luckily, you will only be using it for purely legal reasons and so have nothing to worry about. Right?

Mp3's are nice, but they quickly get to be too much of a burden... as does p2p software, in my opinion.

If all you're interested in is more music to listen to, why not try some streaming media sites. It's really a lot less hassle, and you can get more work done without having to worry about the overhead of setting up playlists, deciding what you'd like to listen to, or whether that might not be the FBI knocking at your door.

ummm I have a 56k so streaming music is out of the question .. and there are ways to make yourself not so noticable so for the FBI knocking on my door I doubt it

Moved: Seems more suitable in our Software forum, since its asking for advice for available software on Linux, etc.

And 56k? I'd think to myself if I were on 56k still, it wouldn't be worth my time downloading mp3's, I'd rather spend the few bucks on gas and then the extra cash I have on hand to go buy a few cd's at the store instead..

Yeah, it would be kind of hard to stream with 56k... and probably very annoying. But keep the option in mind for when you're on thicker pipes.

Sure there are... but they only have to get lucky once, whereas you have to get lucky all the time. Plus (and don't take this the wrong way), if you're the type of person who knows a lot about how to avoid the FBI, I'd think you'd be the kind of person who'd know a bit more about simple p2p programs for linux.

I could be wrong though...

maybe you should get a 5 GB mp3 player (linux based of course) and carry that with you when you go somewhere else. Until then, just tough it out.

Its not worth the risk, or the stress involved in getting the right song, and finding broken, or cut off songs. especially on dialup where every second downloading is valuable.

Can someone please tell me where I can find websites that support LEGAL linux music downloads? I have no problem paying for the music I want, it just seems that every site I go to for purchasing music downloads are for windoz.

I was looking for the more popular music, not music from bands that put their music on the web to try to get a record deal.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
