I have tried looking at RealRhapsody....Wal-Mart.....I used to love getting music from Wal-mart, mp3.com...I signed up for emusic.com, but didn't find any of the songs I wanted, most of them I've never heard of. Like I said before I would be happy to pay for the music I want (as long as it's legal)...the particular songs I want are "Ancient Voices" and "My Tribe" from the Survivor TV show cd. I could download it from Wal-mart, if I had a windoz box. I'm not willing to give up my linux for two dollars worth of songs.

I suppose there's not a difference between the mp3's, the problem I have with these websites is that they want me to download a program so that I can get the music, and these programs are .exe files. The one on walmart.com for example requires IE and windoz media player, which I could use with wine in linux, however the program that walmart requires me to download from their site that works with the windoz media player is an .exe download. This is what the walmart.com website has on it:

1. Does your computer meet these requirements?
• Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP (Sorry, no Mac or Linux)
• Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (required - get the latest)
• An Internet connection (DSL/cable/high-speed connections recommended)
• Windows Media Player:
Windows XP users are strongly advised to use version 10
All other users need the most recent version 9

I know it seems like I focus on walmart.com, but all the sites I have been to to get legal music have said the same thing and want me to download some kind of windoz program from their site so that I can pay for and download the music.

I have realplayer 10 for linux on my puter, but to pay for and get music from real.com, again I have to download a program that is only for a windoz box.

You can get those particular songs from here:

These songs are only 30 second sound clips. Or is there something on amazon.com to pay for a particular song and download it that I am not seeing?

No there's not- oops! I see what you mean now. I would be surprised if someone doesn't have a service for linux users to buy downloaded songs.

edit: i just found this article:
http://www.desktoplinux.com/news/NS2434403923.html
apparently though it is new and they don't have anything yet.

I checked out that article and even clicked on the link at the bottom of the page for mindawn. I was kind of surprised too that I didn't find anything for linux before. Thanks for you help...perhaps this download site will be promising and more songs and artists will be added in the future.
