Angry Mouse offsets at the top of a window/screen

When I move my mouse to the top of the screen in KDE, if there's a window maximized, the pointer moves over to the right about 20 pixels. However, this doesn't happen when there is no window at the top of the screen.

Is there a way to fix this?

I have a M$ Intellimouse Optical, am using Xorg 6.something, KDE 3.2.0. My X mouse protocaul is set to "Auto" but I think it is using IMPS/2. This also seems to only happen when I can use my mouse wheel, I just enabled mouse wheel support...

As far as my current distro, I'm using a stage1 gentoo, but it also happens with Fedeora core 1 and Mandrake 9.1 too.

thanks

I also run gentoo (stage 3) and have a similar problem with my mouse with 1 exception. Whenever I have a window opened and set to 'always on top' or 'keep above others' and move my cursor over the title bar it will act as if I double-clicked it. The window will minimize/maximize when I move my cursor over the title bar. It does not do this all the time, but I would say a good 60-70%. I also have an optical mouse, using auto protocol (explorer/ps2 is what it defaults to I believe). I'd be curious to find out what your solution is. Not sure what windows manager you are using, but I am running KDE 3.2. I have also had a similar problem on a gentoo install on my computer at work.
