Maximum number of contacts in GAIM
Is there any limit on the Maximum number of contacts that we can have in GAIM?
I have a lot of contacts (Not counted the number yet) with three accounts
Yahoo, MSN, AIM.
I find that GAIM automatically deletes a contact or two without askin' me, or without me taking any such action.
Can anybody tell me why is this happening?
Moreover, it is not distro specific, as it happens with all the distros I have used.

I have never heard of this happening before? Does GAIM produce any errors? Can you reproduce this deleting of accounts? Are these accounts active? Does this happen with Kopete. Have you logged back on with Yahoo, MSN, etc and still found those accounts on your buddy list?
More information...

Yeah, me too. I guess this started happening when the no. of contacts in my accounts increased drastically.

No Errors.

Accounts are not deleted.
Contacts are deleted.
When I add a Buddy, I can get him online, but that requires him to accept the invitation in yahoo (Not in MSN).
But I think some other contact in my buddy list is deleted, which I can't track due to the huge list of contacts.

Sorry, but I didn't get you.

I haven't tried it yet.
I will try soon and reply back with Kopete. But can you suggest something for GAIM?
I have problems with Kopete connecting to MSN (that SVN stuff...I have to sort it yet.)

I have logged back in my accounts fine but without those missing contacts.
When it is deleted, it is deleted everywhere. Kopete, yahoo messenger,MSN Messenger etc.
