Mapping IP to URL
Hi! We currently have an IP address such as 64.38.99.44 that we would like to map to a url such as www.linuxquestions.org/linux-server the "linux-server" part of the url would be the server we need to map it to. We have mapped the link on the main page web site to the server but when we click on the link it gives us a ip address rather than a URL. EX: www.linuxquestions/linux-server would go to the URL however its an IP address 64.38.99.44. Is this IP address changed in the hosts file etc. Sorry for the long ended question I am just confused.

If you are using Apache, you should be able to set up a virtual host for the URL/IP combination

Thanks, I was leaning towards that but I didn't know if virtual host were for subdomains or to perform the task I was planning. Thanks

No guarantees - I don't claim to be an expert in Apache by a long shot, but it seems like a possibility, and I think it should work.
Good luck!
