LInuxdcpp crashing with following message

Hey this is my first post and im fairly new to linux. I installed linuxdcpp on ubuntu gutsy yesterday and it was working fine until i decided to install a few softwares which included mostly softwares for playing video and music. Then i performed a few updates.

I know that linuxdcpp has compatibility issues with orca(text to speech converter) so i removed it when i found that it was installed.

Now linuxdcpp crashes within seconds of starting and the message i get in the terminal is
:~$linuxdcpp
Loading: Hash database
Loading: Shared Files
Loading: Download Queue

(linuxdcpp:8697): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_text_buffer_emit_insert: assertion `g_utf8_validate (text, len, NULL)' failed

(linuxdcpp:8697): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()
Bus error (core dumped)

Pls help...
