Linux email notifier?

Just wondering if anybody knows of a program similar to "Mail Notifier" on Windows systems... this is a program that sits in your tray and lets you know if you have any new emails (in Hotmail, Gmail, POP and Yahoo). It's very handy, because I've got about seven email addresses that I need to check regularly (I know that's a lot, but there is a reason.

I tried running it under Mandrake 10 with Wine (yeah, I know, wishful thinking) and as I expected, it wouldn't work.

So does anybody know of a similar program under Linux?

I think you are probably looking for something like Korn.

In Gnome, I use the builtin "Inbox Monitor" panel application, which works like a charm.

As you're probably using KDE, I seem to recall Karamba being a decent bet.

Does Gnome's Inbox Monitor work with web-based email (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo)?

Thanks,

I know that this is a very old thread but it was right on topic and I've been searching for weeks with no luck of an answer.

From memory, GKrellM does pick up on pop based mail accounts, but I haven't used it since about 2004/5 so can't help with the set up.

I know that kmail has function of auto-checking for incomming mails.
But it does not sit in your tray.
