Hi Tony,
I'm having trouble understanding what your problem is. Did you install Linphone using a normal package? By "registrar" do you mean configuration file? What do you do to save your configuration and what is the response. Please give a few more details if you expect any help.

Thanks for your response/ I instlled Linphone via the synaptic packet manager. It seemed to install OK. When I run the program I go to go preferences sip add proxyserver/registrar.
I enter the apprpriate ifo and then click OK apply ok and nothing appears to have been saved !!

Hi Tony,
That's much clearer. Ok, have a look here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/Linphone/Configuring
Now you know where linphone puts its configuration data. You can check it out with a simple text editor (gedit for example) and make sure that data you entered (the stun server? the proxy server?) is found there. You can see if the other data you've entered is there as well.
Cheers,
jdk
I also experienced similar problems. Following the install via the Synaptic Package Manager, I was missing the linphone file from the .gnome2 sub-directory in $HOME. After manually creating the file, I was able to run the graphical version of linephone. However, when attempting to add a proxy server in the "Go/Preferences/SIP" using the Apply/OK button, nothing was added to the window, only to discover the linphone file had not been updated with a [proxy_0] section. After manually adding the section and its parameters, I was able to view the Account in the "Go/Preferences/SIP" window. (I did not experience these issues with the CLI version of Linphone).
