Ummm, OK, now back to the topic....
I've got version 1.0.something installed, and according to Go->Preferences->SIP (tab),
"Your sip address: sip:<username>@<machinename>"
For example, when I installed FC3 on my test/backup computer, I named it COMPAQEXD (strangely, it is a Compaq EX Desktop). If I logged on as tnandy, linphone would say,
"Your sip address: sip:tnandy@COMPAQEXD"
From what I read in the documentation, you're supposed to be able to replace <machinename> with <IPaddress> thus,
"Your sip address: sip:tnandy@192.168.1.3"
I assume that is what someone else would enter if they wanted to contact you using linphone. However, when I enter a destination sip using the machine name, it always returns with "could not find destination." (The machine names are correctly listed in the DHCP Active IP Table in my router, as if that makes any difference.) Using an IP address instead at least gets the destination to ring.
Alas, I've been trying to get linphone to work, too, without success. I've got two computers side-by-side, plugged into the same network switch, running updated FC3 and the latest RPM of linphone I could find. The microphones make sounds come from the speakers, the diddy plays during soundcard detection, and I've got everything turned up in volume control. I start linphone on both machines. I enter the sip of the computer sitting adjacent and click CALL/ANSWER. The other PC rings, so I click CALL/ANSWER. The answering Linphone says it's connected and the lights on the switch flicker continuously, but I get no sound from one computer to the next. After several seconds, the calling linphone changes from "contacting <sip>" to "could not reach destination". There's an interesting echo effect on the PC that receives the call, but it's picking up sound strictly from the local microphone. When I click RELEASE/REFUSE, the answering linphone says disconnected even though the originating linphone still says it could not reach destination.
I've seen source for linphone version 1.3.something, but nobody's made an RPM for FC3, and I'm still too much of a newbie to compile anything. Which version of linphone are you running?
