Unhappy kplayer 0.5.2 crashes when launched as root on KDE 3.3.2

The subject says it all. I was running KDE 3.3.1 and recently compiled kplayer 0.5.2 and it was running just fine.

Last night I upgraded to KDE 3.3.2 and now kplayer crashes when launched. However the weird thing is , if I run it as another user, it works fine. I recompiled after upgrading to KDE 3.3.2 , but the problem is still there . Other applications such as kmplayer for example are working fine.

Is there anyone else who has seen the same problem and can help me detect what I am doing wrong?

Thanks
