Mplayer & kplayer config in KDE
Dear all,
I use Mandrake 9. This version does not have mplayer in CDs. I have a query on Mplayer. I use version 0.90 and installed it from the tar.gz file by using commands ./configure, make and make install. Mplayer did not create any icon on my desktop or in start menu.
After starting the program by using gmplayer command, it started but looked for a subfont.ttf file which it could not find. Before starting, I copied the skins file (including default) to the skins directory (/usr/...). After I got this message, it opened the font tab and gave path to a font file. But, there is one irritating thing, no screentips come up with the skins and the buttons are so small, it is sometimes difficult to identify. How can I get screentips like in Wind**s.
Another thing. I came across this kplayer program. I downloaded the rpm. But when I tried to install it by using KPackage, it looked for dependencies. The install failed. How can I get Kplayer to work. My gcc version is 3.2. But I don't know about qt.
add a couple of locations, I use the austrian graz source and the PLF source
once added
you can call up a terminal, su to root then type
urpmi nameofprogram
example: urpmi kmplayer
and urpmi gets the prog and all dependants and downloads and installs them
this command is brilliant, with it i have added kmplayer, mplayer, aviplay, several games and so on, and they all work fine

Hi sal,
I forgot to mention that I access internet over cable connection through a hub. The cable guys have a customised software for this. Hence, I can access internet only through Windows (XP). Hence, urpmi is no help for me, I guess. Any other way to solve this. I use dual boot with Win XP.
When your at http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/ and you goto the easy urpmi site. You should be able to access most of the ftp site with any modern browser and then dl the rpm.
