don;t know if Kaffeine will work, but you can play through Kino. You may also dump the files into your computer using Kino and do minor editing. It is on the Suse CD, but an updated version is available here:
hello i have just installed kino from suse cd like you said it is version " 0.7.0 " i have not yet looked at the link you told me about but i was wandering can i get it to update its self or do i have to do it manually. because when opend kino clicked on view then clicked on capture it said "drivers not loaded"
thanks nige
iv gone to that link u gave me in the process of installing thanks iv just got a few "dep-" to install ill let u know tomorrow how i got on thanks for your help
make sure you've got the 1394 drivers installed, also dvgrab. These are all on the CD too. Yast may do an online update of these, but i don't know if they'll be as up to date as the ones at the packman site. Yast is good, but it doesnt always have the most current versions of software.
"libavc1394"
"libavc1394-devel"
"libdc1394"
"libdc1394-devel"
"libraw1394"
"libraw1394-devel"
i thought that was all of them
yet i still get a message at the bottom left corner of kino saying "drivers not installed" can u help any more
hello again 1 last thing i get this new error message
"the ieee1394 subsystem is not loaded all ieee1394 options are disabled" allso i went to the "Requirements" section there were things i did not have but i have them all now cya
what is the make and model of your firewire card? Shouldnt really matter, but just in case. In the meantime, i'll do some searching on hardware detection and setup. You might just try going through the hardware "thing" in Yast and see if you have to do some additonal setup to get that card funtioning.
i'm sorry, not the cables, but the card itself. Or is the firewire port built into the motherboard? If so, please provide the model of the motherbaord.
I'll be heading home in a few hours, i'll see if i can find something. Google is coming up empty handed today
