Exclamation k3b configuration

I was hoping someone might tell me where I can find the file to edit which device K3B is pointing to for reference to burn discs. I keep getting the error that K3B has no permission to open the device and was told that configuring k3b to point to my DVD drive might help (as it may be pointed to another configuration file that does not reference my device). I have looked in /bin, /sbin, and /etc for a file that looks to be a k3b configuration file and cannot find one.

Have tried to alter permissions for the device through Settings-->Configure Device Permissions ? Or for other configuration, Settings-->Configure K3b ?

As far as I know, the device permissions are set a system level, not in K3b. At least that is the way it is on version 1.70.0

There is a desktop file, on my system it was here-->/usr/share/applications/kde4/k3b.desktop This file seems to set language things. I didn't see any device information in it.

Hope this helps.

look at your /etc/fstab , k3b just uses what is there, as far as I know there is no way to tell it to us a different drive.

my fstab
Code:
# automatically added, PHILIPS_DVD+-RW_DVD8801_VA155S61665391
/dev/cdrom	/media/cdrom	udf,iso9660	user,noauto	0	0

# automatically added, SONY_DVD-ROM_DDU1615
/dev/cdrom1	/media/cdrom1	udf,iso9660	user,noauto	0	0
Also check groups, make sure you are in the cdrom groups.

$ groups
craig dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev users fuse scanner haldaemon powerdev netdev

I wouldn't have the slightest on whether or not the information was legitimate but it definately sounds so, for your reference, here is what the fella said.

http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=87617

I'm pretty sure he's talking about over a network though!

/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST3808110AS_4LR2YM6M-part1 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST3808110AS_4LR2YM6M-part2 / ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 1
/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST3808110AS_4LR2YM6M-part3 /home ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0

Above is my fstab, and as you can see, even with a disk in the drive (and that disk is accessible) there is no entry for the drive! I chmod for dvd drive, cd drive doesn't exist, and I can't recall the other two default /dev mount points for disc drives but will find out and change those as well. Before I try to burn again though I'm going to really try and fix it, I've already messed up a stack of DVD's !! (well 1/2 of one)
