When I am running joe without screen, it works nicely - though when skipping whole pages up or down, it does a somewhat slow refresh of the screen.
However, when run under screen, joe begins displaying errors: lines with tabs get them collapsed to single spaces, spaces get expanded, strings overwrite one another, letters jump around when the cursor passes over them, etc. A ^R refreshes the screen properly and corrects the errors, but soon they reappear when I move the cursor or page up/down.
Example, from editing squid.conf ...
Code:
# then these swap logs will have names such as:
#
# cache_swap_log.00
# cache_swap_log.01
# _swap_lowap_log.02
#
# The numbered extension (which is added automatically)
After refreshing, properly:
Code:
# then these swap logs will have names such as:
#
# cache_swap_log.00
# cache_swap_log.01
# cache_swap_log.02
#
# The numbered extension (which is added automatically)
Changing the TERM variable before running (or reattaching to) screen to vt100, linux, xterm etc. doesn't affect it at all.
I presume something's wrong with some termcap setting somewhere, but I have not tinkered with the default settings at all...
The versions used are:
Screen version 3.09.13 (FAU) 5-Sep-02
Joe's Own Editor v2.9.7
Where could I go look?
