I've upgrade the kernel and all using yum update. I would want to run the xine player first then upgrade. What is the safest way to upgrade to fc5/6 ? i afraid the kernel would corrupted.Pls advise. Thanks
You don't want to upgrade your FC3 - there's too great-a risk you'll end up with an up-to-date installation that is just as broken.
Make a note of everything you choose during the installation process. (write it down.) The /root directory has a log-file of this too - so you get to see what you have.
I keep a log of every modification (from my point of view) and how I did it (as if I was instructing someone to follow my footsteps) in my home directory. (Just a text file.)
You'll find it helpful for the future to create a separate partition for the /home directory... future installations will be instructed to ignore this partition (but still mount it's fs at /home) so that you will save all you personal customizations and so on.
