Installing Mandrake on Compaq
I am currently trying to install mandrake 8.0 on my Compaq Presario laptop. The software will not boot, it gets to where it is about to start loading and then the computer freezes up, I have attemped this many times and have had the same problem. I am currious about coping a few boot files onto a floppy disk or two and trying it this way, if this may work, which files should I copy from the CD?? Now if it makes it past the boot stage shouldn't it work? I'm open for any suggestions.
The computer is running Windows 2000 professional, and the hardware is a AMD 850Mhz, 320 ram, Toshiba DVD-Rom sd-c2502, standard floppy,Synaptics PS/2 port touch pad, disk drives, Hitachi_dk23BA-20, the laptop is a Compaq Presario 1210US, if this description helps any.
Is the floppy disk boot up, a good thought?
Waiting for some advice, thanks JBM
