[SOLVED] Installed GNOME 3 on Ununtu 15.10

Hi folks, forst time posting here! (Also am Linux newbie)
I decided to look up how to install GNOME and came across http://askubuntu.com/questions/61465...p-ubuntu-15-04

I followed the instructions and selected gdm during installation but after using the gdm restart command my screen went black and nothing happend. Whenever I turn off the PC (by pushing my case's power button) some words show up and it then boots down.

Whenever I try to boot it I am promoted to unlock my HDD by password, after that some words show up and the screen goes black again, what should I do? Help!

Hi & Welcome to Linux Questions.

When the black screen is up try holding down Ctrl + Alt + F1 <or> Ctrl + Alt + F2.
That will take you to a virtual terminal where you can type in your username and password.
Once you type in your username and password try typing:

Code:

startx

That should take you back to your desktop envirnment/GUI-
If it doesn't try running:

Code:

 dpkg-reconfigure gdm

Than reboot by typing in the terminal sudo reboot
