Well the first thing to do is unpack it. in a terminal run the command==>gunzip <path to file>/install_flash_player_6_linux.tar.gz
Then run the command==> tar -xvf <path to file>/install_flash_player_6_linux.tar
with your file manager open the file with the flash player in it and look for the readme and/or install file open the file in an editor and read it for instruction on installing .
more info on gunzip, and tar can be had by running the command ==>man gunzip ,and man tar
Oh, and by the way... welcome aboard.
"tar zxfv" (letters in any order) is much shorter and does exactly the same as the "gunzip" followed by "tar <-whatever>", even the "-" is superfluous. May be someone ought to start a campaign for "Sane Unix Commands", the "old" Unix programmers and Admins (the likes of the "ksh -o vi" brigade, may be army, most of whom I'm far older than for sure, remind me of the "MEN IN TIGHTS" in the House Of Commons - Archaic is good because it's tradition.
