Question install conexant driver kernel 2.2.19-19mdk source


i need to instal a conexant linmodem driver

when i try to install it, the program tells me i have to reconfigure my kernel, because the driver does not work with co-processor function on.

i tried to find the kernel source, but cannot find it.....

how do i reconfigure the kernel?

i am using mandrake 8.1 (2.2.19-19mdk secure)

Well have you chosen to install the kernel source when you first installed Mandrake?

the source will be in:

usr/src/linux

if you can't find it there, then you will need to install it. You should find it in the Mandrake CD. Also if you want the latest kernel, then goto www.kernel.org, and download the latest one from there.

should 2.4.19 I think.

Also to learn how to compile your kerenel, just search through the forum, because I saw a lot of posts about comiling kernels.

p.s. don't download the 2.5.* these are non-stable ones.

can i change the config-file

i want to configure the kernel:unset the co-procesor option

in order to install a driver

can i do this directly in the config file????
