NO CARRIER, on kernel 2.6.11-6(mandrke 10.2) for Conexant HSF driver, ver 7.18.00.05

Hello friends,
I have intalled Mandrake 10.2 with the kernel version 2.6.11-6mdk. I have a internal modem from Rockwell conexant. The modem is hsf modem detected by the tool and also it is working fine with RedHat 9.1 hsf driver. But for the Mandrake i am facing problem. While using Kppp after ATZ command it tries to connect to my ISP but unable to ring. After some time it ends with NO CARRIER response.
Any idea about this. I have wrriten to Linuxant support but no response from them.
Thank you all in advance

Hello,

Are you sure that Connexant have released HSF drivers for 2.6 kernel ??? 'cause I know that their drivers were not compatibles with 2.6 kernel

I think that there's a modem test provided with Kppp... Is this test OK ??? If yes, then the probably does not come from your modem but rather from your line...

Hello ,
The KPPP test gives the result perfectly all right. My modem line is okay because i am using the same modem on Redhat 9.There it works smoothly.
Even i use the minicom on MDK same problem persists. My phone line supports Pulse dailing so i have changed the ATDT command to ATDP. But in mandrake 10.2 it still does not help.change of init string AT &F X1 has also has not helped me.So problem seems to hidden some where becase i dont see any cuase effect relatioship anywher.
Anymore ideas
Regard
Jha

Hi,

Have you tried to use wvdial+ppp to connect (instead of chat+ppp).... I think that your modem is connected to your computer through serial port, so what about serial port config??? commands to configure it are setserial ans stty
Hope it helps a bit

Hi oliv,
I have tried Minicom there also it respons to all command like ATZ ,AT&FX1 etc OK but when i use ATDP command to dial it stucks and ends with NO CARRIER. Modem is not connected to serial port.it is internal PCI modem.
