Increasing the native resolution using 915resolution?

Hey guys!

Okay, I have an Acer Aspire 1640 running the 915resolution tool for my 915GM video. The native resolution for the monitor is 1280x800. Is there anyway to increase it? I have tried editing the file itself to include higher resolutions and that didn't work.

Is it possible to go beyond 1280x800? I would like to get 1440x900 if that was possible. If there is already a post or some documentation on this just point me in the right direction, I have no problems with reading. I tried Googling and searching forums and read the documentation for the 915resolution tool but I didn't find anything on extending the resolution past the native one.

Thanks!

I don't think it's advisable to go beyond your native resolution. For starters, it wouldn't look good at all; lcds always look best at their native resolution. IIRC non-native resolutions are really simulated on lcds and generally look bad. Second, I don't think it is possible for an lcd to simulate a greater resolution than its native resolution although I might be wrong on that.

Thanks kilgoretrout!

I appreciate the reply. I was afraid that I couldn't exceed my native resolution. Oh well, at least now I know.
