Question Help with ProFtp server

I am totally stumped! I was in the middle of transferring files to my server and all of a sudden the ProFTP server stopped sending files. Not only did it stop sending files but it will not open the remote file folder! I can connect to the ftp server with no problems, it just will not open the remote folder. I am totally lost on this one. The ftp server has been working fine for days and now all of a sudden it craps out on me.

I didn't change anything, it just craped out on me out of the blue. I really need to get it going again asap. Please help.

Strange..

Try to restart proftpd and if that does not work for you check what ports you have up. If you have not done anything in the config scan port 20 and 21 (if you have changed the configuration you should know which ports to scan ).
Can you connect to the ftp and download from your localhost?

Ok after checking the logs I found the problem the ftp server was trying to bind twice. I am using Centos 4.0 but I found this fix for Fedora core 3 and it worked. https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg03039.html

Here was the errors in the logs.

Mar 16 01:17:12 ***********com proftpd[7556] *************comcast.net: Failed binding to 0.0.0.0, port 21: Address already in use
Mar 16 01:17:12 ***********com proftpd[7556] *************comcast.net: Check the ServerType directive to ensure you are configured correctly.

Thanks for the speedy response I am getting ready to ship the server to the data center next Monday I hope to have all of the bugs out by then.

Just a note, when the server cannot bind and gives the error "address already in use" it may be related to passive-mode.
I only allow passive mode on my ftp and get an error almost like your if the client is not in passive mode when sending a request.
