I'll try to be more detailed.
I have a Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.8.E Acer aspire one laptop
since ive had this computer I have not been able to use youtube, everytime i tried it just said that adobe flash was out dated. so i went to the adobe site and downloaded the tar.gz version. extracted it with xarchiver and now I have libflashplayer.so. I read up on other posts of ppl having trouble with adobe updating but was unsuccessful at applying those tips to my own situation..I dont know if im fallowing the directions wrong or not.also add using firefox 3.6.6. sorry but have no idea what the distribution is?

when I type either of those commands in it says :
[root@localhost ~]# tar xvzf install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz
tar: install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
[root@localhost ~]# cp libflashplayer.so /home/user/.mozilla/extensions/
cp: cannot stat `libflashplayer.so': No such file or directory

OT: Do yourself a favour and get rid of Linpus.
Try Ubuntu Netbook-Edition and you will get a system working nearly out of the box and with much better support-base. There you will find about a zillion howtos for enabling flash, java etc. which are not in italian ;-)
No offence meant to italians!

BTW: the path should be /home/user/.mozilla/plugins
afaik.
In your case: /root/.mozilla/plugins
Then again: Dont use Mozilla as root. See my last post..... Its crap!

Where did you download install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz ?
Go to the directory where you downloaded install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz and
then run tar xvzf install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz

I was continuing to search other forums and I found one that I believe helped. said to go to terminal and type in yum update, I did that and it seems to be working ...I thank Prayag and Feinbein for their comments and trying to help me. It was very appreciated.
