Acer Aspire One, can't install Adobe Flash, wants password

I tried to download and install Adobe flash player to my AAO, but though it says the file is saved to disc, when I try to open it I get 'verify as 'root' and a password request.

Any suggestions?

I'm a Linux utter novice. Have successfully done one thing in it before.

thanks

The root password is the password that was set when the AAO was started for the very first time. If you were not prompted for it at that time (e.g. you bought a second hand or demo model), you can
1)
follow the instructions that came with the AAO how to create a bootable usb stick from the recovery CD that came with it and re-install the OS
2)
download e.g. Ubuntu Netbook Remix and create a bootable usb stick from it
2a)
boot from that and fix the password; instruction can be found here and elsewhere and if you don't come right, let us know
2b)
boot from it and install it; this would be my preferred option (I do not really trust the support on Linpus Lite (updates) and therefor I'm running UNR now
