gnome device icons

hello all, just a quick question how do i stop gnome from showing device icons on the desktop when i mount them? i.e. every time i mount a cdrom, the cd-rom icon gets displayed on the desktop, pretty annoying, imo! cheers.

First off, fire up gconf-editor, if you don't have it i'm sure there's a way to edit these files, i'm just not sure where they're located

This is kind of like a windows registry, so click the following.. apps>nautilus>desktop
now, in the right hand pane, uncheck 'volumes_visible'

That should be it!
