GIMP 2.10.22 does not have File/Create/XSANE option

I had been using GIMP to scan photographs using XSANE using the File/Create menu. After upgrading Ubuntu from 18.04 to 20.04, GIMP no longer has this option. XSANE 0.999 is installed and works to scan photographs outside of GIMP.

Any ideas why this happened or how to correct it?

Thanks,

Mike

My 2.10.22 has the XSane option, but I never use it.

Could it be that The Gimp tests for XSane upon installation and that XSane had been installed/updated *after* Gimp? Ignore if not.

I don't use XSANE either, but my distribution offers both an xsane program and an xsane-gimp plugin. Maybe you are missing the latter?

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs.../pst/sane.html shows you how to link xscanimage into the Gimp. I assume it would work for xsane too.
