Question Evolution gone from KDE menu...

...used to be in Networking/Mail. I have just installed the new version (1.4.5) from the Ximian website: http://www.ximian.com/products/evolution/download.html using the following instructions successfully:
# Open a terminal window.
# Using the su command, become superuser (root).
# Type the following command or cut and paste it into your terminal:
wget -q -O - http://go.ximian.com |sh

After the installation, I was able to open Evolution with my original application button on my KDE taskbar. A while later, after closing the program, I tried reopenning it but got an error (can't quite remember what it said) and then the button disappeared. The only way I can open Evolution now is via the command line "evolution". When I do, I get this output (it does still open successfully though):

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: Invalid root: '//home/myname/evolution/local/Drafts/mbox.ibex.index'

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: version: TEXT.000 (TEXT.000)

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: block size: 1024 (1024) OK

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: free: 0 (0 add size < 1024) OK

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: last: 6144 (6144 and size: 1024) BAD

(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: flags: unSYNC

(evolution:3388): Bonobo-CRITICAL **: file bonobo-ui-util.c: line 182 (bonobo_ui_util_xml_to_pixbuf): assertion `xml != NULL' failed

1) Does anyone know why it's doing this?
2) How can I get the application back in the KDE menu?

Some more info... my distro is Mandrake 9.1 and the original Evo version was 1.2. Also:
I typed the following command line and here is the output:

$ whereis evolution
(evolution:3392): camel-WARNING **: Invalid root: '//home/myname/evolution/local/Drafts/mbox.ibex.index'

Hope you can help me!

don't know about the evolution stuff since i don't use it, but you can right click your kickstart button on your task bar and open up menu editor and see if the old entry is in there. if not just make a new one using for the command, "evolution" (no quotes).

Thumbs up

megaspaz (I like that!)

Hey thanks for the workaround! It works great...
Should I still worry about that other stuff? Did it get installed in the wrong directory?
Oh well, as long as it works, eh?

Thanks!

well i guess you should be worried about the warnings. it could point to a configuration error or whatnot. but if it works with no problems, then it may not be serious. this is a new version right? those could be bugs. xcdroast .98-alpha14 has a bug where it reports an error after burning a cd even though there really is no error and the cd is burnt perfectly.
