Smile ERROR on Package Manager

Hi, wen I run the package Manager it gives an error which is -

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

How can I solve this problem, Please HELP.

By doing what it tells you, run dpkg --configure -a .

By running dpkg --configure -a as root.
