I've successfully installed Suse 9.1 with Enlightenment. I'm trying now to use a different theme (I think I'd like Arietta, but at this point, any will do), but I can't see how to do it! I've tried untar-ing one that I downloaded from Freshmeat into /usr/X11R6/share/enlightenment/themes and resetting the symlink "DEFAULT" to point to it; e-conf isn't an option anymore and there is no "themes" menu in the "main" left-click menu (that menu is driving me mad, incidentally). The symlink option worked, but gave me an error message that the theme in question was not properly configured to be a default theme, and that E would now exit.
I'd like to know how to change my theme in a way that works, or at the very least know how to configure my preferences in a way that does not involve a series of menus (so that I can figure out how to get rid of/move the right-click menu that holds all of the preferences options, and move what is now the left-click menu to the right-click action). I don't mind the preferences menu all that much even - if I could make it a submenu of the main application menu. There's got to be a way to do this...?
You could try simply renaming the tar.gz file to .etheme and copy it to your themes dir. It's worked for me in the past. Incidentally, your themes should go in your /home/whatever/.enlightenment/themes directory.
As for switching menus around, here's a tutorial explaining this. Go to the last question on the page, "How do I edit the keybindings? "
Well, I did that (renamed it to arietta.whateverversion.etheme, and put it in my .enlightenment/themes/ directory), but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do after that. It sure doens't get used automatically, if that's what's supposed to happen, and like I said before I don't have any kind of a menu or way to choose which theme I'd like to be currently using.
If it is supposed to be used automatically from .enlightenment/themes/, what do I do to handle multiple themes? Do I have to move one in and out of that directory when I want to change? I typically change mine every week or so, and usually have about 50 in play at once, if my WindowMaker track record is any good.
Edit: I just started reading that link (thanks!) and he says that there's a middle mouse menu (O_o)...which I never would have guessed nor discovered on my own, so for all I know there may be a themes menu there somewhere. I'll check when I get home this evening.

There is a "themes" tab in one of the menus. I guess if you haven't seen it yet, it's probably the middle button menu. Whatever you put into your themes dir. will get picked up automatically and displayed when you click on that tab.
Wow Now that I've got everything set up like I'd like it to be (thanks a million for that link, btw - it's immensely helpful!) Enlightenment is absolutely teh sexy windowmanager. I'm really starting to love this!
Erm....one question, though. I sort of accidentally annihilated a couple of the pager windows, so out of 4 desktops I've got pager windows 0 and 2 showing. The pager options allow me to choose how many desktops I'm using, and how many screens are in each desktop, but not which pagers to show. How can I get those windows back?
There's probably a better way, but what I do is "Restart enlightenment" in the user menu. It only takes a second and doesn't close any of your apps. You should also do this after installing new themes or editing menus, etc.
*sigh* I am the world's biggest idiot. I finally paid attention to my surroundings, and noticed that this time, when I changed the number of desktops yet again from 3 (all of which I had pager windows for at this point) to 4, just to see if something magical would somehow happen this time, I noticed a flicker of movement waaay down in the bottom-right corner where the iconbox is. It looked like this: http://www.cybermenology.com/images/doh.png
Yeah. That would be pager for desktop #4. I probably had it all along, since the first time I restarted E, I just don't use the iconbox at all so I never noticed it.
