enlightenment-redhat9 no menus

I've installed enlightenment on redhat 9, everything seemed to go ok

but there are no menus

the left mouse click brings up a small box with no text,
I can launch the Gimp and X chat and that's all.

Is there a way of rebuilding the menus from the command line?
Or another work around for this?
