Email Servers and File Sharing
Hello all. I have a few questions here. First, let me explain my setup. I have a sendmail box serving approximately 10 users. They connect via a Outlook frontend through POP. Therefore, their mailboxes, calendars, etc are backed up to a .pst file, stored on the network and then put on tape. My question is, is there something similar to Exchange in the linux world. With sendmail, the only thing that is backed up is their spool files, which only contain the contents of the inbox, granted that the email is not deleted. I know that with Exchange, I can back up everything in their outlook client because there is "real-time" communication between the client and the server. Also, when the log onto the web client, they can see everything that is in their outlook client as well cause it is all in sync. Can sendmail do this? If so, how?
Also, these same 10 users (mostly developers) use their Windows XP desktops to connect to a few different files shares that I have setup on SAMBA. They are running into version control problems, over writing each others code, etc. I have investigated Subversion. But, considering the size of our group and the fact that Subversion has no "pretty interface" I dont think its a good solution to the problem. Yes, I have told them to just make copies of their files and communicate with each other when one is in a file, etc. but its not holding up with the boss. Therefore, I would like to know if anyone is aware of an easy to use version control/check in - checkout kind of software for Linux, that has an easy to use GUI for Windows or web interface of some kind.
Thanks for the help...
