Hi,

For DVD to AVI, there's dvd::rip, or you could even use VLC for this, although it says it's rather meant for network streams.
For AVI to DVD..., you could make a DVD from AVI files by burning them as a video DVD with your favourite burning program.

Hope this helps

You can get an rpm here. Or if you've got the right repositories enabled, you could open a terminal and run:

Code:
yum install dvdrip
yum's supposed to be similar to Debian based system's apt-get, so I'm guessing that should work on your system's Fedora.

If you want more information or if you get an error while using yum, you probably need to take a look at this first, to enable the right repositories.

Those programs will help you do the work:

How to create a custom DVD using DeVeDe
How to backup your DVDs (in dvd, xvid, mpeg-4, x264 formats) using k9copy
