Unhappy dvdrip 0.52.7

Hi .a newbie my first post here goes...
I am having trouble with dvdrip 0.52.7. I have used a previous version and installed it ok
on Fedora FC3 and worked ok with some issues which weren't important at the time.

I am now running Fedora FC5 and all the tools have been compiled and built, all the perl modules are ok no whinges from the main DVD perl makefile it works.
dvdrip starts to run and get the error message "mandatory tools not found or too old".
It does not find any of them ? these are all built using default /usr/local/. Can anybody point me in the right direction.. dead keen but I'll get too old Googling and I am getting nowhere.

I assume that /usr/local/bin is in your PATH and /usr/local/lib
is in /etc/ld.so.conf?

And one more question: is that a 64 bit version of FC? Because
on Ubuntu 5.10 AMD64 DVD-Rip gives the same problems, it's a known
bug.

Cheers,
Tink

Thank you Tinkster!!!
I checked the things you asked, it's a 32bit FC5 vers and then edited /etc/ld.so.conf and added /usr/local/lib line.
I then retried to run it from the icon from the user's gui nope.
So I opened up a shell and ran it as root after doing an ldconfig just to make sure
and presto!!!! it's running.
I would like to know more about /etc/ld.so.conf which I will go an explore.
Now to see what works this the fun bit Many Thanks again !

Success Tinkster
I have just ripped and transcoded my first video and have been able to view and use
the transcode tools and explore. I appreciate that this can be done via command line
but after building all of the tools from source and learning about the dependancies and how to use linux one needs some instant gratification. This will do me for now confirms the recent budget hardware works and now waiting for more ram and bigger faster scsi drive. Linux can be fun while one still has hair..lol

Good on yah :}

As for ld.so.conf
It's the file that tells the on-demand linker (like DLL stuff
in Windows) where to look for .so files (DLLs).

I should have mentioned that you need to run ldconfig after
modifying the file (it DOES get re-evaluated during a reboot).

Cheers,
Tink
