Does a linux LVM use up all the physical space in the Hard Drive?

Because I'm using a back-up software; Acronis True Image and usually when I backup normal partitions it only backs up the 'used' space and not the whole capacity of the partition or hard drive.

But when it backs up an LVM partition it backs up the whole capacity no matter if the consumed space is only 10%, it backs up the whole 100%.

TIA

LVM claims the entire physical partition and then rations it out logically as you choose. That's probably why your software thinks that the partition is full of data. True Image does not seem to speak LVM so you might have to backup manually via the command line unless Acronis has released a patch to address this. I would contact that company and see what they tell you.
