Disabling Gnome Brightness OSD Possible?

Hello,

I'm runny Lenny (Gnome) on my old laptop, which has either a power adapter or on-board power interface that is beginning to fail. I periodically see the AC power LED turn off and on repeatedly until I jiggle the cord plug around. That's life.

But what's really bugging me is that when this happens, the brightness OSD shows up and goes up and down very fast. Oddly, the brightness doesn't actually fluctuate, and when I use the brightness hotkeys, it does dim, yet the OSD doesn't show up.

Also, when this happens there are a series of loud clicks (one for each time AC power is lost). At first I thought the hard drive was loading and unloading, but I've discovered that it's actually coming from the speakers.

I can live with keeping my speakers muted most of the time, but the OSD is bothering the crap out of me. If anyone knows a possible solution to either or, much thanks would be in order.

Thanks!

Ah, actually I got it. But the clicking sound is still there. Shucks.

Whoops. Got that fixed, too.

Sorry, everyone.
