Configure PHP source to HTTPD installed from YUM

Hi

perhaps is a non advanced question but Im confused about it. I need to install php5 into Linux so. I know this is very easy if you use YUM. Only two commands and all is ready. But I need to configure PHP with extra option as MSSQL support. This is the motive of my question. Im asking if is possible to configure php from source if you installed httpd from yum.

If httpd is installed from yum, there isn't apxs file so I don't know how i can compile php5. Is this possible or I need to compile httpd from source?

Thanks

It seems that as a HTTPD you are using Apache.
You can compile PHP5 from the source and use it with Apache without having to recompile it (you can use HTTPD installed with YUM).

First install HTTPD with YUM, then download, compile, make and install PHP5, then modify your HTTPD (Apache) configuration, so the PHP module gets loaded and .php files are handled with PHP.

There are some really good instructions in php.net's site.
