How to configure PHP+Apache+PostgreSQL (already installed from RPM)on RH9


hi friends.
i am verymuch new to the LINUX ENVIORNMENT.
I have tried to installed PHP+Apache+Postgresql from RPMs available in CD.
i could start apache with PHP but i could not start PHP with postgreSQL . it gives me following error:

pg_connect() unable to connect to postgresql server.FATAL : IDENT authentication failed for usr "postgres" in /var/www/html/test.php

PL.u guys help me to connect php to postgresql.
