Compiling and Installing Kdevelop 3.0.4

I'd like to start off saying I'm new to Linux and I'm having the hardest time simply trying to install a program. First, I set everything up and tried to execute ./configure. After that ran a little bit it gave me an error saying I need to install Flex. I forgot to install that so I went and downloaded Flex and tried to set it up. As I was doing that, I tried to execute 'make install', when I did this I got a parse error saying that YACC wasn't a command. I'm not familar with the Flex Makefile, but I went through it to see where it was used and such. Well, I haven't really had a point to this post. My question is can anybody go through installing Kdevelop step by step because I'm having a difficult time. Right now, nothing is working for me. Thanks for any help.
