Client for Oracle Database--general question

Hi,

I've installed the client (gui) application for accessing a remote Oracle Database. Here's the hitch: It's designed for SuSE 9x, but I'm on SuSE 10.2. Nevertheless, all libraries (rpm's) and correct kernel are present as per the installation instructions.

To start the app, I login to oracle home, navigate to ~/bin> and type oemapp console.

But nothing happens! The prompt simply returns. Considering that all rpm's and kernel are present, shouldn't my app work even though it's certified for a previous version of SuSE?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

run xhost + as root and try again ...

your x server might be refusing connections .. but you would get the corresponding error ....

thecarpy,

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't seem to be the problem though. Quite a mystery....
