Can't get CUPS to work

I can't get the browser to run CUPS to install a network printer. http://localhost:361 and various other addresses don't work. Is there another command to get it started?

The correct port for cups is 631. Check if the service is running; service cups status
If not then start it: service cups start

Also check that the /etc/hosts file has a line like:
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain

You can also try using the loopback interface: http://127.0.0.1:631

HI,
Thanks for the reply. I tried everything already except the addition to /etc/hosts. Originally, it had:

::1 localhost.localdomain localhost

I changed the ::1 to 127.0.0.1, but still no go. Do I need to restart to effect the changes in hosts?

EDIT: Just restrated CUPS service and it is working. Just one more step I guess. *shrug*
THANKS

Quote:

Great for IPv6 networking but bad for IPv4 stuff like cups.
