SRTTurbo,
Did you try to go to 127.0.0.1:631 ? Thats cool webadmin interface for administration of cups.
Check status of your cups server, try to reconfigure printer there.(Do administration task and manage printers and check what is happening)
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf is main configuration file for cups server. If you are more expirianced you can enter that file and see is everything ok.
After check you can try to restart cups service with /etc/init.d/cups restart and see is everything ok.

So you can go to 127.0.0.1:631 That means you can connect to your cups server at localhost. What can you see when you go to do administration tasks > manage printers ?
Can you see your printer model ? Can you see Printer state for your printer ?Tell me what you see on that page please.

You should see you printer on that page.If it said "No printers" that means you must install your printer again.
On printers page press "add printer" then enter name, location and description of printer > continue then
choose the way your printer is connected (usb, serial or however your printer is connected to your machine,I assume your printer is connected direcly to your computer) > continue > choose HP and then find your model (HP OfficeJet T45 Foomatic/hpijs is on the list) then continue and you should see "Printer added succesfuly" go to Printers again and you should see your printer.Try to print test page and tell me the result.Tell me status of your printer too.

I hope your printer is working again.

Basically, i did exactly what you told me to do. When i get past the enter name, location, and description of printer. i went to choose the way it was connected and (Serial) wasnt one of the choices ( here arethe choices i see in teh drop down box>

AppSocket/HPJetDirect
Backend Error Handler
Internet Printing Protocol (http)
Internet Printing Protocol (ipp)
LPD/LPR Host or Printer
LPT #1
Parellel port #1 (CANON) <--- I dont own one of these
Parellel Port #2 (EPSON) <--- I dont own this one niether
PDF Writing
Windows Printing via SAMBA

Other than that i dont see serial port. The date and time is all wrong on my printer. Im thinking the computer cant even make a connection to the printer. The printer did work when i had knoppix installed. Ive reinstalled the easter edition 4 times and all times i had this very same problem. I really do appreciate you helping me. theres no one else that even wanted to take this task.

So your printer is connected with serial and there is no serial in manage printers ? I don't know why is that happening.

From the information I found via googling this printer has only a parallel port connection i.e a 25 pin D Sub connector.
